Andrei Agius appointed as new coach of Hibernians as Branko Nisevic’s contract is terminated with mutual consent

Hibernians FC announced that the club and coach Branko Nisevic have reached a mutual agreement to terminate his contract and that Andrei Agius has been appointed as the new Head Coach.

Agius, who has been serving as assistant coach since the beginning of the season, will be assisted by Igor Bubnjić, who has formed part of the club’s technical team since November.

Branko Nisevic had joined Hibernians in summer 2023 after leading Hamrun Spartans to the championship in season 2022/23 after joining the Spartans in February 2022..

Nisevic, who had started his coaching career as part of the Malta FA technical staff, had already spent three years as coach of Hibernians between 2013 and 2016, winning the championship in 2014/15 and the Super Cup in 2015/16. The following season, he joined Gzira United but his stay was short-lived. In 2018, he joined the Malta national team as assistant coach to Ray Farrugia. Nisevic later served as sporting director at Sliema Wanderers but-mid-way through season 2020/21, he was appointed as coach of Nadur Youngsters.

Hibernians suffered three defeats in their last league matches and were eliminated from the FA Trophy by Gzira United just a couple of weeks after defeating Hamrun Spartans 2-1 in the final of the BOV Super Cup.
