Sliema Wanderers defeated neighbours Gzira United 2-1 in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Closing Round league phase at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Saturday.
However, the win was not enough to secure a place in the Top 6 as they placed seventh, one point behind Gzira, who had secured their Top 6 status last week, Valletta and Gzira.
Uros Djuranovic put Sliema ahead on 8 minutes and two minutes in added time before the end of the first half, Roko Prsa doubled the score. The Maroons pulled one back thanks to an own goal by Muriel Freire ten minutes from time.
