Five Premier League clubs, namely Floriana FC, ?amrun Spartans, Hibernians, Qormi FC and Valletta FC will join the Gozitan selection.
Teams will be divided into two groups: Group A will consist of Gozo, Valletta FC and Hibernians FC while Floriana FC, ?amrun Spartans and Qormi FC will be playing in Group B.
Two triangular tournaments based on 45-minutes matches will be played on Friday 25th March, starting at 18:00. The winners of the two groups will then play in the final, the runners-up will face each other in the final for third and fourth place while the two teams who place at the bottom of the two groups will play for fifth and sixth place.
These three matches will be played on a 90-minute basis, starting at 13:00. The final kicks-off at 17:00.
A number of Under-8, Under-10 and Under-12 tournaments will be played at various venues in Gozo.
Said explained that the Gozo Cup will help tourism in Gozo in a period which is considered to be rather quiet. He thanked Gozo Channel for reductions on ferry ticket prices for those Maltese supporters in possession of the stadium tickets.
Gozo Football Assocation president Alvin Grech thanked the Parliamentary Secretary for his support and the participating clubs. He said this competition gives the opportunity to some of the players from the leagues in Gozo to play against the top players in Malta and also gives Gozitan football fans the chance to watch them in action.
