Mifsud explained that the Betclic Everest Group, owned by Lov Group and Le Societe des Bains de Mer operates four brands, namely Betclic, Everest Gaming, Expekt and bet-at-home.com. He said the company offered services to around twelve million clients and in Malta, Betclic employs 300 employees – a third of which are Maltese.
Michael Mifsud said Betclic was a member of the European Gaming and Betting Association and the European Sports Security Association and therefore there was strict auditing in order to make sure that the company’s procedures respect clients.
Birkirkara FC president Joe Zammit thanked Betclic for this sponsorship, saying that thanks to this commitment by a prestigious company, the club could become more competitive and strengthen the squad in order to challenge for honours. He said that due to limited income of clubs, participation in European competitions was of utmost importance but still, that was not enough. Therefore such sponsorships were vital for the club.
Zammit said that the club has been participating in European competition since 1996 and Birkirkara always aimed at being protagonists and not just participants.
Birkirkara coach Paul Zammit said that such sponsorships were important for the club and while players and coaches had to have a professional attitude, the club also had to have such attitude. Such sponsorships supported club structures.
Speaking about the team’s Premier League campaign, Zammit said the first round is more geared about gauging the team’s strength.
The Birkirkara coach said the club has been working on the current team since January. He said the team was eliminated from the UEFA Europa Cup with heads held up high. Players deserve the credit for working hard although there is a very long way to go. However he is sure that with the players at his disposal, they can continue to strengthen what they they had built.
