“This game was very important for me because till now I only played a couple of minutes every game and I was working hard to put my name in the starting line-up. I am very satisfied with my performance and obviously scoring is an add on to this positive game,” said Schembri.
Omonia Nicosia defeated Enosis Paralimni 2-0. Leandro opened the score on the 88th minute and Schembri sealed victory on the 90th minute.
The Maltese flag was represented on both sides of the pitch since Enosis Parlimni’s goalkeeper is Maltese international Andrew Hogg.
After two months in Cyprus, Schembri is now aiming to be in the starting line-up on a regular basis although he said it is very difficult due to tough competition among the several high-quality players.
Omonia Nicosia’s next match is against Doxa on Saturday. Omonia are currently sixth in the table, ten points behind the leaders.
