BOV National Amateur League: Attard move three points clear

A penalty by Nigel Spiteri after just five minutes handed Attard a seventh successive win in Group A of the BOV National Amateur League as they beat Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 1-0 at the Luxol Stadium on Saturday. A win which puts them three points clear.

At the Sirens Stadium, a goal by Christian Caruana seven minutes in the second half and a penalty three minutes from time handed Msida St. Joseph a 2-0 win over Ghaxaq.

Attard lead the way with 25 points, followed by Gharghur on 22, Kalkara 20, Birzebbuga 17, Msida 16, Xghajra 12, Dingli 11, Ghaxaq and Siggiewi 8 and Ta’ Xbiex 6. Attard had nine points deducted.

Meanwhile in Group B, Zabbar St. Patrick scored five in the first half to beat Mdina Knights 5-0 at the Luxol Stadium. David Oliveira Souza scored twicer on the 3rd and the 10th. Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza made it 3-0 on the 18th and seven minutes later, Kenneth Aquilina scored a fourth goal with David Oliveira Souza completing his hat-trick one minute from the end of the first half.

On the other hand, a goal by Dylan Attard on the 4th minute handed Kirkop United a second successive win as they defeated Mellieha 1-0 at the Sirens Stadium.

Marsaskala and Zurrieq lead the way with 23 points, followed by Mtarfa and Zabbar on 19, Mellieha 10, Mdina and Qormi 9, Kirkop and Sta. Venera 8.
