BOV National Amateur League: Attard join Gharghur on top Group A

Attard joined Gharghur on top of Group A of the BOV National Amateur League thanks to a 3-0 win over Dingli Swallows at the Sirens Stadium.

Nicholas Schembri converted a penalty on the 4th minute. Brandon Bray doubled the score four minutes from time and four minutes in added time, Schembri sealed the issue with a third goal.

At the Centenary Stadium, Gharghur were held in a goalless draw by Msida St. Joseph while at the Luxol Stadium, Birzebbuga St. Peter’s and Siggiewi shared the spoils in another goalless draw.

Attard and Gharghur lead the way with 22 points, followed by Kalkara on 20, Birzebbuga 17, Msida 13, Xghajra 12, Dingli 11, Ghaxaq and Siggiewi 8 and Ta’ Xbiex 6. Attard had nine points deducted.

Meanwhile in Group B the match between Kirkop United and Zabbar St. Patrick at the Sirens Stadium was abandoned before the second half kicked-off due to a floodlight failure.

Zabbar were leading 1-0 thanks to a Philip Chircop penalty.

In a match at the Luxol Stadium, Sta. Venera Lightnings rescued a point in a 1-1 draw with Mellieha.

Stefan Vasilevski put Mellieha ahead on the 65th but Luke Taliana equalised four minutes in added time.

Marsaskala and Zurrieq lead the way with 23 points, followed by Mtarfa on 19, Zabbar 16, Mellieha 10, Mdina and Qormi 9, Sta. Venera 8 and Kirkop 5.
