Mosta hit late to turn defeat into victory

Mosta scored twice in the final ten minutes to turn defeat into victory as they beat Marsaxlokk 2-1 in a match from the 360 Sports Malta Premier Closing Round at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Friday.

A win which enabled the Blues to return to winning ways and join Marsaxlokk, Birkirkara, Hibernians and Sliema Wanderers on the 9-point mark. Marsaxlokk, on the other hand suffered a second successive defeat to lose the opportunity to move top.

Marsaxlokk took the lead on 22 minutes when Yuri Messias sent Alex Tanque through on the left and the latter slotted the ball past goalkeeper Udoh David Akpan.

Ten minutes from time, Mosta levelled matters when off a cross by Prince Afriyie from the right, Clayton Failla served Stephen Gabriel Chiemezie who headed the ball home from close range.

The Blues notched the winner on 87 minutes courtesy of Prince Afriyie who concluded a good move with a powerful shot from outside the area which beat goalkeeper Matthew Calleja Cremona.
