Second successive win puts Mosta in fourth place

After obtaining their first win on Sunday, Mosta made it two wins in a row as they defeated Marsaxlokk by the odd goal in five in a match at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Saturday.

The Blues move joint-fourth on nine points with Balzan, who however have a game in hand, one point behind Marsaxlokk. For the Southseasiders, this was the second consecutive defeat.

Mosta took the lead on the 9th minute when Zachary Brincat sent Christian Ndubuisi Nnaji through and the latter hit low past goalkeeper Marko Drobnjak.

One minute later, Nnaji took advantage of an erratic pass by a defender and served Zachary Brincat on the right who slotted the ball past Drobnjak.

Marsaxlokk reduced the gap on the 21st when off a corner from the right, Sunday Akinbule hit home past goalkeeper David Udoh Akpan.

Mosta restored the two-goal lead on the 59th when off a cross by Clayton Failla from the left, Kevin Tulimieri beat Drobnjak with a fine shot.

The Blues were reduced to ten men after Damian Aneni Evans received a second yellow card six minutes from time.

Two minutes in added time, Sunday Akinbule scored a second goal for Marsxlokk, heading the ball home off a cross from the right by Yuri Messias.
