Mosta defeated Marsaxlokk 2-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday to move fifth on 26 points, one ahead of Floriana and two ahead of Gudja United.
Marsaxlokk, on the other hand, remain fourth from bottom on 14 points as they suffered a fourth defeat in five matches.
The Blues took the lead on the 20th minute when Zachary Brincat took advantage of a misunderstanding between Oscar Carniello and goalkeeper Marko Drobnjak, depositing the ball at the back of the net.
Marsaxlokk equalised six minutes from the end of the first half when off an assist by Leandro Aguirre from the left, Ayrton Attard slotted the ball past goalkeeper Ini Etim Akpan.
However on the 75th minute, Mosta regained the lead courtesy of Christ Evo Ememe who pounced on a through pass and rounded the goalkeeper before placing the ball at the back of the net.
