BOV Challenge League: Melita secure top six spot

Melita secured a place among the top six teams who will be fighting for promotion after earning the point they needed in a goalless draw with Tarxien Rainbows at the Luxol Stadium in one of the matches from the BOV Challenge League on Saturday.

Fgura United missed out on a top six finish despite a 4-1 win over Zejtun Corinthians at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Aroldo da Silva Arruda put Fgura ahead on the 9th minute and went on to double the score on the 59th. Dylan Caruana made it 3-0 on the 61st and Aroldinho added another on the 72nd before Darren Capar scored a consolation goal for Zejtun twelve minutes from time.

St. Andrews lost 2-3 to Marsa at the Centenary Stadium. Lucas Ribeiro de Oliveira handed Marsa a two-goal lead with goals on the 43rd and 51st. Ross McParland pulled one back on the 71st but Jake Jovanoski made it 3-1 for Marsa three minutes later. William James England reduced the gap once again on the 90th.

Swieqi United stunned Naxxar Lions, defeating them 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium. Sammy Elfarsi put Swieqi ahead on the 9th and Gilberto Martins Leite Carrara doubled the score on the 33rd. Robinson Blandon Rendon reduced the gap on the 74th but three minutes in added time, Jean Borg sealed the issue with a third goal.

Sliema lead the way with 44 points, followed by Naxxar on 41, Zejtun 33, Tarxien 32, Melita and Zurrieq 26, Fgura 25, Marsa and Swieqi 24, St. Andrews 22, Lija 20, Attard 18, Marsaskala, Mqabba and San Gwann 15, Qrendi 13, Mtarfa 11 and Vittoriosa 10.
