Hamrun Spartans secured the services of Croatian twenty eight year old attacking midfielder Ante Coric and Dutch twenty five year old forward Stijn Meijer.
A product of NK Zagreb, Coric joined Red Bull Salzburg in Austria before returning to Croatia to join Dinamo Zagreb. He then joined AS Roma in Italy from where he was loaned to UD Almeria in Spain, VVV Venlo in the Netherlands, NK Olimpija in Slovenia and FC Zurich in Switzerland. After leaving Roma, he played for NK Rudes and NK Varazdin in Croatia.
Meijer, on the other hand, played for RKAV, Roda, Utrecht, Twente, Willem II, Almere City, Excelsior, FC Dordrecht and PEC Zwolle in the Netherlands, CD Lugo in Spain, SC Verl in Germany, Al Shahanaia in Qatar and FC Universitatea Craiova in Romania.
The Spartans had earlier appointed Giacomo Modica as their new coach and signed Vincenzo Polito, Jonny Robert, Matias Garcia, Domantas Šimkus, Rafael Compri, Mouad El Fanis, Merlin Hadzi, N’Dri Koffi, Saliou Thioune, Junior Djile and Gabriel Adragna with Steve Borg, Mattias Ellul, Mayron, Roko Prsa, Elionay, Mihael Klepac, Talison, Cesar Menacho and Raphael Lopes, not retained or moving elsewhere.
