The Malta Football Association is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with Assikura Insurance Brokers PCC Limited for the extension of its sponsorship for the women’s senior and youth football competitions for the 2025/26 season.

Building on their strong partnership with the Malta FA in support of women’s football, Assikura Insurance Brokers have renewed their commitment as exclusive title sponsors of the main women’s competitions. Women’s football has grown in prominence over recent years, and Assikura Insurance Brokers’ support has been key in this regard.

This agreement covers the Assikura Women’s League, Knockout, Super Cup, as well as the Assikura Women’s Youth League and Youth Knockout. Additionally, the agreement also includes a series of individuals awards, including the Assikura Women’s League and Assikura Women’s Youth League Player of the Month awards, together with the Assikura Women’s League Coach of the Round honour.

Additionally, as part of the agreement, prize money will for the first time be awarded to the winners of the Assikura Women’s Knockout.

Commenting on the agreement, Malta FA General Secretary Dr Maria Azzopardi said: “The Malta FA is delighted to extend the partnership with Assikura Insurance Brokers PCC Limited, a trusted and committed sponsor of our women’s competitions.”

“Over the past years, Assikura has played a valuable role in supporting the growth of women’s football competitions in Malta. This renewed collaboration reflects our shared commitment to the continued development and professionalisation of the women’s game,” she affirmed.

In his comments following the agreement, Assikura Insurance Brokers Managing Director Andrew Grech remarked: “Women’s football has come a long way in the last decade, and we are very pleased to see that the popularity of the women’s game in Malta has also increased significantly.”

“The senior and youth competitions are central to the growth of the game, both at local and international level. Our ongoing association with the senior and youth league championships, knockout competitions as well as the individual awards attests to our commitment to support this fast-growing sport and the collective efforts of so many dedicated players, coaches, administrators, supporters and volunteers along with the Malta Football Association.”

“We look forward to another exciting season marked by entertaining matches, strong emotions, fair play and sustained progress across the board,” Mr Grech added.

The Assikura Women’s Youth League commenced on Tuesday, while the Assikura Women’s League starts on Thursday, as the teams battle it out for the two prestigious titles.
