The Malta Football Players Association (MFPA) and Assikura Insurance Brokers PCC Limited have signed an agreement to consolidate their professional collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
The agreement underlines the two organisations’ commitment to share their knowledge and expertise in their respective fields to offer the best possible advice and assistance to football players on insurance-related matters, especially health and personal accident insurance.
With the start of the 2023-2024 domestic football season fast approaching, Assikura Insurance Brokers have re-launched a health and personal accident insurance policy specifically targeted for football players and clubs following discussions with key stakeholders.
“Protecting the football players is at the heart of our mission,” Carlo Mamo, General Secretary of the MFPA, said. “We remain firmly committed to supporting the players’ long-term health and well-being, both on and off the field.
“Ensuring that the players can benefit from a tailor-made policy for their needs is of utmost importance. It is primarily for this reason that we are very pleased to be teaming up with Assikura Insurance Brokers PCC Limited who not only have a wealth of experience in this field but have been very supportive of the MFPA efforts to secure an advantageous and viable insurance policy for football players.”
Andrew Grech, Managing Director of Assikura Insurance Brokers PCC Limited who are also the title sponsors of the domestic women’s football competitions organised by the Malta Football Association, said: “Our agreement with the MFPA complements our commitment to partner up with key stakeholders in Maltese football as their co-operation and input was crucial for us to obtain an adequate insurance product, for football players and clubs, through Laferla Insurance Agency Limited as an Insurance agent for Mapfre Middlesea plc .
“This collective collaboration is also essential to ensure the long-term viability of this insurance product in a particular and challenging environment. Thanks to this agreement with the MFPA, the insurance product is now available to football players while local clubs can also avail themselves of the health and personal accident insurance policy.”
