The BOV First Division League kicked-off on Friday with the first two matches at the Centenary Stadium.
In the first match, Zejtun Corinthians defeated St. Patrick 3-1 in a clash between two teams who were promoted from Division 2 last season.
A brace by Kenneth Abela and a goal by Albanian striker Gers Delia put the Corinthians three goals ahead before Jurgen Farrugia pulled one back for St. Patrick.
Dingli Swallows defeated St. Andrews 2-1 in the second game. William Camilleri put the Saints ahead but Mauro Brincat and Steve Meilak turned defeat into victory for the Swallows.
Meanwhile the Malta Football Association announced that following a request by First Division clubs, the BOV First Division League matches in programme on Saturday and Sunday have all been delayed by an hour.
The programme is therefore as follows:
