Mosta moved fifth in the 360Sports Malta Premier league table as they defeated bottom-placed Zabbar St. Patrick 4-2 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.
A win which puts them one point ahead of Hamrun Spartans and Gzira United and three ahead of Melita. Zabbar, on the other hand, remain anchored at the bottom of the table with four points from nine matches.
Zabbar St. Patrick managed to take the lead on 5 minutes when they were awarded a penalty after Leo Agius was brought down inside the area and Marcelo Santos converted from the penalty spot.
Mosta equalised seven minutes from the end of the first half when off a Clayton Failla corner from the right, Matheus Cambuci headed the ball home past goalkeeper Matthew Grech.
Eleven minutes in the second half, Mosta went 2-1 ahead when Prince Afriyie, served on the right, concluded a good move with a powerful drive which beat Matthew Grech in the top right corner.
Five minutes later, Zabbar restored equilibrium thanks to Diogo Tavares following a good run on the left flank and a cross by Stefan Ilic.
Mosta, however, regained the lead on 70 minutes thanks to Souleymane Kone who headed the ball home off a corner from the left.
Seven minutes later, the Blues sealed the issue with a fourth goal courtesy of a Clayton Failla freekick which ended in the top right corner.
