Birkirkara returned to winning ways as they defeated Mosta 2-0 in a match from the 360 Sports Malta Premier Closing Round at the National Stadium on Saturday.
The Stripes move top on nine points, sharing the leadership with Marsaxlokk while Mosta remain on the six-point mark as they suffer a third defeat.
Birkirkara managed to take the lead on 6 minutes thanks to a powerful drive from the right by Alexander Satariano which beat goalkeeper Udoh David Akpan.
One minute in the second half, Mosta received a major setback as Joao Texieira was sent off by referee Alex Johnson after bringing Satariano down just outside the area.
Substitute Paul Mbong doubled the score on 67 minutes, hitting home from close range off an assist by Lecao.
