The first phase of the IZIBET Amateur League 1 came to an end on Sunday as Marsaskala defeated Kirkop United 2-1 at the Sirens Stadium.
James Oghenekewaro put Marsaskala ahead on 3 minutes and although Andre Gomes equalised thanks to a penalty ten minutes in the second half, Joshua Ojelabi notched the winner on 73 minutes.
San Gwann lead the way with 38 points, followed by Vittoriosa on 36, Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 33, Luqa St. Andrew’s 31, Xghajra Tornados 30, Attard 27, Qrendi 24, Qormi 22, Zejtun Corinthians 19, Mellieha 17, Kirkop United 16, Marsaskala 15, Pembroke Athleta 13, Gharghur 10, Rabat Ajax 6 and Msida St. Joseph 4.
The draws for the second phase will be held on Monday as San Gwann, Vittoriosa, Birzebbuga, Luqa, Xghajra and Attard will be playing in the Top 6 while Qrendi, Qormi, Zejtun, Mellieha, Kirkop, Marsaskala, Pembroke, Gharghur, Rabat and Msida will take part in the Play-Out.
