Luke Montebello completes Sliema Wanderers move

Sliema Wanderers signed Malta twenty nine year old forward Luke Montebello.

A product of Birkirkara, Montebello joined Italian side Livorno in a joint-ownership deal in summer 2011 and the following summer, the Italian club signed him from Birkirkara. He returned to Malta in summer 2013, playing for the Stripes in the Euro Cup but a few weeks later, joined Valletta, signing a five-year deal.  Montebello had spells on loan with Zebbug Rangers, Tarxien Rainbows and Pembroke Athleta before returning with the Citizens in January 2017. However the following summer, he left the club to re-join Birkirkara but had a spell on loan with Balzan in season 2019/20. Montebello moved to Hamrun Spartans in summer 2022 but was released by the club last March.

The Wanderers, who have confirmed Paul Zammit as their coach, are also expected to confirm shortly the signing of Thiaguinho and Roko Prsa. Meanwhile Geoffrey Acheampong moved to Birkirkara.
