Ħamrun SC and Sliema Beach Soccer have secured their spots in the National Beach Soccer Championship final after winning their respective semi-final matches.
Defending champions Ħamrun SC had little trouble overcoming WA Agency with a convincing 8-2 victory. WA Agency initially took the lead through Dylan Musu, but Ħamrun quickly levelled thanks to a goal from Joshua Olejabi. Tobi Akiti then put Ħamrun ahead, and from that point on, the team coached by Joel Winters, took full control of the match.
Akiti went on to complete a personal hat-trick, while Nezar Abouaisha added two goals of his own. JP Zammit and Kyle Bartolo also found the net for Ħamrun. WA Agency managed to reduce the deficit with a goal by Essa Salem.
Sliema Beach Soccer faced a tougher challenge in their semi-final, narrowly defeating last year’s finalists La Playa de Arena 5-4 in a thrilling and closely contested encounter. As the scoreline suggests, it was a tight game that remained uncertain until the final whistle. However, Sliema’s consistent performance throughout ensured their passage to the final.
Matthew Agius scored twice for Sliema, with Dias, Brandon Bray, and Roberto Fassari scoring the other goals. La Playa de Arena responded with goals from Daryl Micallef, Sheldon Mizzi, Karl Micallef, and Ryan Dalli.
The final between Sliema Beach Soccer and Ħamrun SC will be played on Friday at Pretty Bay in Birżebbuġa.
