Tarxien Rainbows FC continued to strengthen their squad with the signing of Portuguese thirty one year old winger Octavio Alexandre Leal de Barros, known as Tavinho.

Throughout his career, Tavinho played for Moncarapachense, Internacional Almancil, Louletano, Culatrense, Quarteirense, Almancilense, Farense, Vizela, Varzim and Alverca apart from a spell with RANS FC in Indonesia.

Tarxien, who have confirmed coach Jacques Scerri, had earlier signed goalkeepers Andrea Cassar and Miguel Spiteri, Marcus Grima, William James England, Andreas Vella, Luke Anthony Borg, Kyle Gatt, Rafael Tavares, Tiago Santos, Erico Junior, Jonata, Bruno da Cruz, Kwasi Donsu and Johan Castano and confirmed Matthew Tabone, Miguel D’Alessandro, Sheldon Mizzi and Claudio Murici.
