Floriana came back from two goals down to beat nine-man Haverfordwest County 3-2 in the second leg of the UEFA Conference League first qualifying round at the Parc-Y-Scarlets in Llanelli on Thursday.
With a 5-3 aggregate score, the Greens therefore proceed to the second qualifying round of the competition where they will be facing FK Ballkani of Kosovo.
Daniel Portela opted for two changes as Carlo Zammit Lonardelli and Todor Glisovic were preferred to Alejandro Garzia and Mattia Veselji.
Haverfordwest showed greater determination in the opening minutes and managed to take the lead on 11 minutes when off a Hawkins corner from the left, Jones headed the ball down and although Dylan Rees failed to connect, Greg Walters hit home from close range.
Six minutes later, the Welsh side doubled the score when Ben Ahmun served on the right rounded a defender before beating goalkeeper Cioletti with a fine rising shot.
However on 19 minutes, the Greens reduced the gap when a cross by Gonzalo Gamarra from the left was deflected by a defender and Jake Grech served Carlo Zammit Lonardelli who managed to beat goalkeeper Luc Rees with a shot from just outside the area.
Rhys Abbruzzese went close for Haverfordwest with a direct freekick from the edge of the area on 28 minutes.
One minute from the end of the first half, Floriana were awarded a penalty after Alaric Jones hit Mustapha Jah inside the area. Jones was sent off by referee Joao Goncalves and from the penalty spot, Jake Grech converted to level matters.
Three minutes in the second half, Ben Ahmun was unlucky to hit the crossbar from close range when served from the left by Hawkins. A long distance shot by Gamarra was parried by Rees on 53 minutes.
Floriana made it 3-2 on 67 minutes when Charles M’Mombwa received a through ball on the right and rounded a defender before beating Rees from a close angle.
Deep into stoppage time, Rhys Abbruzzese was also sent off for Haverfordwest County after receiving a second yellow card.
