The loser of the clash between Hamrun Spartans and Dynamo Kyiv will be facing Pafos FC of Cyprus or Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC of Israel in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League following Monday’s draw at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.
Matches would be played on 7 and 14 August 2025.
Ironically, even Hamrun eliminate Dynamo Kyiv, they would be facing Pafos or Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round Champions Path.
Maccabi Tel-Aviv made it to the group stage of the UEFA Champions League in 2004/05, UEFA Europa League in 2011/12, UEFA Europa League in 2013/14, UEFA Champions League in 2015/16, UEFA Europa League 2016/17, UEFA Europa League 2017/18, UEFA Europa League 2020/21, UEFA Europa Conference League 2021/22 and UEFA Europa Conference League 2023/24 where they made it to the Round of 16 and the UEFA Europa League league phase last season.
On the other hand, although Pafos FC are a relatively new club, taking part for the first time in a European competition last season, they had a brilliant run in the UEFA Conference League when they eliminated Zalgiris of Lithuania, CSKA 1948 of Bulgaria and CFR Cluj of Romania to reach the league stage where they placed 12th out of 36 teams, eliminating Omonia Nicosia in the Knock-Out Phase Play-Offs and bowing out of the competition in the Round of 16.
