Paul Mbong joins FK Čukarički

Malta international forward Paul Mbong joined Serbian top division side FK Čukarički. He signed a two-year deal with the Belgrade-based club.

Mbong started his career at the Hibernians nursery, joining Birkirkara at the age of 15. With the Stripes, he made his Premier League debut in season 2018/19. In September 2020, he made his senior national team debut in a match against the Faroe Islands.

With Birkirkara, Mbong won the FA Trophy in season 2022/23.

Founded in 1926, Čukarički spent its early years in the amateur league and during Yugoslavia’s era, the club primarily competed in the country’s lower divisions. They competed for the first time in the Yugoslav top division – the Yugoslav First League – in 1993/94.

Čukarički made its European debut in the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 1996. In 2012, they became the first professional football club in Serbia to be privatised. Since the takeover, the club has undergone a transformation, becoming one of the most stable and organised in Serbian football.

Čukarički has consistently competed in the Europa League since 2014 and more recently in the Conference League. Their best achievement was winning the Serbian Cup in 2014/15 and four third-place finishes in the Serbian SuperLiga.
