Assikura Women’s League champions Swieqi United beat Agarista CSF Anenii Noi 2020 of Moldova 5-0 in the semi-final of the UEFA Women’s Champions League first qualifying round Group 2 at the Myjava Stadion in Myjava, Slovakia on Wednesday.
This game marked the debut for Swieqi United in European football.
Following a goalless first half, Salamatu Abdulai put Swieqi ahead on 38 minutes and ten minutes later, Abdulai doubled the score. Aleksandra Yaneva made it 3-0 on the hour and Sara Saliba converted a penalty on 76 minutes. Andjela Kricak scored the fifth goal four minutes from time.
In the final, Swieqi will be facing the winner of the other semi-final between Spartak Myjava of Slovakia and ŽFK Budućnost of Montenegro in programme later on Wednesday.
The group winner will then face ŽNK Mura of Slovenia in Group 1 of the second qualifying round in a semi-final which will then put the winner against the team which emerges as winner from the other semi-final between WFC BIIK-Shymkent of Kazakhstan and GKS Katowice of Poland.
