Zabbar St. Patrick and Hibernians shared the spoils in an entertaining 2-2 draw in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Opening Round at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.
The Saints therefore earned their first point following the defeat to Sliema while the Paolites dropped their first points after defeating Gzira in their first outing.
Justin Haber made a return in goal for Hibernians due to the absence of Laurentiu Branescu and Hugo Sacco in an otherwise unchanged line-up. Zabbar, on the other hand, had two changes as Pedro Cejas and Mario Fontanella were named in the starting eleven as they replaced Haroun Tchaouna and Nicholas James Agius.
Zabbar managed to take the lead on 32 minutes when Jake Micallef’s header off a free kick by Brian Gambarte and Pedro Cejas placed the ball at the back of the net off the rebound.
Two minutes in added time, Bjorn Kristensen levelled matters thanks to a powerful drive which beat goalkeeper Luca Camilleri when served by Miullen.
Fourteen minutes in the second half, Pedro Cacho made it 2-1 for Hibernians with a long-distance effort but nine minutes from time, equalised thanks to a shot by substitute Samuel Gomes from the edge of the area.
One minute from time, substitute Youngwon Im was sent off for Zabbar.
