Attard, Msida St. Joseph and Nadur Youngsters secured a spot in Round 2 of the Malta FA Jubilee Cup Phase 1 as they registered wins on Friday.
In the first match from the North Region at the Centenary Stadium, Msida St. Joseph defeated Dingli Swallows 4-3 on penalties following a goalless draw. In the penalty shoot-out, Ruslan Borg, Zayon Carter, Carlston Cardona and Nicky Attard Portuguese scored for Msidawith Yessous Camilleri missing the only one for the Saints. Juan Tenorio, Ronaldinho Daley and Jason Camilleri scored for Dingli but Chris Saliba and Max Borg Bartolo missed.
In Round 2, Msida will be facing Attard.
Attard defeated Rabat Ajax 4-2 in another match at the Centenary Stadium. Nicholas Schembri put Attard ahead after just five minutes and a,thoughVictor Ifeanyi Mbata equalised on 21 minutes, Schembri restored the lead for Attard two minutes later. Gordon Saliba extended the lead seven minutes in the second half and although Rabat reduced the gap thanks to an own goal seven minutes from time, Staline Degabriele made it 4-2 on 90 minutes.
At the Gozo Stadium, in a match from the Gozo Region, Nadur Youngsters beat St. Lawrence Spurs 6-0. Diego Rodriguez put the Youngsters ahead after just three minutes. Murilo Scarpari doubled the score two minutes from the end of the first half and just before the end of the first half, Matthias Mericeca made it 3-0. In the second half, Nadur scored another three goals thanks to Joseph Xerri on 74 minutes, Murilo Scarpari on 79 minutes and a Luka Haber penalty one minute from time.
Nadur willbe facing either Sannat Lions or SK Victoria Wanderers in Round 2.
