Hibernians failed to take the top spot in the YoHealth Malta Premier Opening Round as they were held in a 2-2 draw by Mosta at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Wednesday.

The Paolites join Valletta and Hamrun Spartans in second place on eight points, one behind Marsaxlokk.

Mosta, on the other hand, are now joint seventh with Tarxien Rainbows on four points.

Duane Bonnici put Hibernians ahead on 20 minutes but three minutes later, Daniel GTA levelled matters for Mosta thanks to a penalty.

Twelve minutes in the second half, Cleiton restored the lead for Hibernians but Prince Chibuzor Emmanuel equalised on 59 minutes.
