An early goal handed Birkirkara a second successive win as they defeated Naxxar Lions 2-0 in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Opening Round league phase at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Wednesday.
The Stripes now lie on the nine-point mark, leaving the Lions at the bottom of the table with just one point from six matches. Naxxar created a number of scoring opportunities thanks to which they could have equalised but failed to do so to remain empty-handed.
Birkirkara scored the all-important goal on 5 minutes when off an assist from the left, Franklin Sasere beat goalkeeper Matthias Debono.
