Attard, Kirkop United, Lija Athletic, Msida St. Joseph, Pembroke Athlete and Qrendi secured a place in the Round of 16 of the BOV Amateur Cup as they registered wins in matches from the Round of 32 on Saturday.
At the Charles Abela Stadium, Lija Athletic defeated Munxar Falcons 6-1. Gareth Joyce pot Lija ahead on 9 minutes, Kyle Debono doubled the score on 12 minutes and one minute later, Erjon Beu made it 3-0. Mohmmed Doughmi pulled one back on 32 minutes but Ross McParland restored the three goal lead three minutes from the end of the first half. Juan Ruiz extended the lead one minute in the second half and McParland added another on the hour.
In the next round, Lija will be facing Luqa St. Andrew’s or Mdina Knights.
Msida St. Joseph defeated Gharb Rangers 3-0 at the Sirens Stadium. Taiwo David Akindele put Msida ahead on 16 minutes. Two minutes in the second half, Thomas Grima doubled the score and Akindele added another on 75 minutes.
Msida will be facing Zejtun Corinthians or Ta’ Xbiex in the next round.
At the Luxol Stadium, Attard defeated Oratory Youths 3-1. Precious Uchechukwu put Attard ahead on 17 minutes. Jayden John Bonanno doubled the score on 32 minutes and although Aroldinho reduced the gap on 39 minutes, Nicholas Schembri made it 3-1 on 82 minutes.
In the Round of 16, Attard will face Kirkop United.
In fact, Kirkop United defeated St. George’s 5-1 at the Luxol Stadium.
Nathan Bandundi handed Kirkop a two-goal lead with goals on 31 and 54 minutes. Miguel Zammit made it 3-0 on 76 minutes and although Kenneth Aquilina reduced the gap ten minutes from time, goals by Zammit and Carrick Saliba on 86 and 88 minutes sealed the issue for Kirkop.
At the Sirens Stadium, Weverton notched a hat-trick as Pembroke Athleta defeated Sta. Venera Lightnings. Malcolm Vella Vidal opened the score on 5 minutes and Weverton scored on the half hour. Samuel Saldanha increased the lead on 59 minutes with Weverton adding another to goals on 87 and 88 minutes.
Pembroke will be facing Gharghur or Zebbug Rovers in the next round.
Meanwhile in another match at the Charles Abela Stadium, Qrendi scored three in the second half to beat Ghaxaq 3-0. Brandon Bray converted a penalty on 59 minutes. Gianfranco Micallef doubled the score on 67 minutes and two minutes later, Bray added another.
In the Round of 16, Qrendi will be facing Victoria Hotspurs or St. Lawrence Spurs.
