Yuri scored twice as Valletta came from behind to beat Tarxien Rainbows 2-1 in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Opening Round league phase at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.

The Citizens join Hamrun Spartans in second place, one point behind leaders Floriana and one ahead of fourth-placed Hibernians.

The match came to life before the end of the first half as one minute in added time, Tarxien managed to take the lead when off a corner from the right, Rafael Tavares headed the ball home past goalkeeper Adilson Maringa.

However, one minute later, Yuri equalised for Valletta when he took the ball off a short clearance by a defender and slotted past goalkeeper Andrea Cassar.

Eight minutes from time, Valletta notched the winner when Andrea Zammit had a shot from the edge of the area blocked by Cassar and the ball fell at the feet of Yuri who placed the ball at the back of the net.
