Leaders Floriana moved four points clear in the YoHealth Malta Premier Opening Round league phase as they registered a fourth successive win, beating Hibernians 1-0 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Friday. 

The Greens now lead the way with 19 points, four ahead of Valletta and Hamrun who will be in action on Sunday against Naxxar Lions and Sliema Wanderers respectively. Hibernians, on the other hand, remain fourth on 14 points as they suffered a second consecutive defeat. 

Floriana managed to take the lead on 15 minutes when following a good move between Lucas Lopez, Dunstan Vella and Federico Varela, Mustapha Jah controlled the ball before slotting past the Hibernians goalkeeper. 

Three minutes later, the Greens had the opportunity to double the score when Bjorn Kristensen brought Mustapha Jah down inside the area but from the penalty spot, Mustapha Jah’s effort was neutralised by Hugo Sacco.
