Sliema, Marsaxlokk share spoils in draw

Sliema Wanderers and Marsaxlokk shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Opening Round league phase at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.

A draw that suited neither side as both were chasing a second win in their bid to move closer to securing a Top 6 spot.

The Wanderers now lie seven points behind leaders Floriana and six behind Valletta as they lie on the 15-point mark, together with Hamrun who will be facing Naxxar later on Sunday. Marsaxlokk, on the other hand, join Hibernians on 14 points.

Roko Prsa was unlucky to hit the crossbar on 11 minutes but the Wanderers managed to take the lead on 32 minutes when the Southseasiders lost possession just outside the area and Vito Plut served Sulahmana Bah who controlled the ball before slotting past goalkeeper Mafoumbi from the edge of the area.

Marsaxlokk, however, equalised on 72 minutes when off a cross by Leandro Aguirre, Joseph Minala headed the ball in the direction of Dodo who slammed the ball home past goalkeeper Emeka Kelvin Agu.
