Asumah Abubakar-Ankrah scored four as Birkirkara defeated Tarxien Rainbows 4-0 in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Opening Round league phase at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Tuesday.
A win which puts Birkirkara in third place, on level points with Hamrun Spartans, one ahead of Sliema Wanderers and two ahead of Hibernians and Marsaxlokk in the race for the Top 6 position. However, all these have a game in hand.
The Stripes managed to take the lead on 24 minutes when a shot by Donovan Makoma from the left was deflected by Asumah Abubakar-Ankrah past goalkeeper Andrea Cassar.
Eight minutes later, Asumah Abubakar doubled the score, heading the ball home off a Marcos Maydana free kick from the right.
On 62 minutes Asumah Abubakar made it 3-0 with a back heel shot following an assist by Makoma from the right.
Ten minutes later, Abubakar scored the fourth goal hitting home past Casar following a cross by Macula from the left.
