Valletta were held in a 1-1 draw by Gzira United in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Opening Round league phase at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Tuesday.
A draw which extends the Citizens’ unbeaten run while condemning the Maroons to playing in the Bottom 6. Valletta join Floriana on 22 points but the Greens have a game against Birkirkara in hand. Gzira, on the other hand, now lie on the 10-point mark.
Against the run of play, Gzira managed to take the lead on 46 minutes when they were awarded a penalty after Thaylor pushed Kante inside the area and from the penalty spot, Gabriel Bohrer converted.
However, on 63 minutes, Yuri equalised thanks to another penalty after Jefferson was brought down inside the area.
