Marsaxlokk comeback condemns Hibernians to Bottom 6

Marsaxlokk came back from two goals down to rescue a point in a 2-2 draw with Hibernians in a match from match-day 11 of the YoHealth Malta Premier Opening Round league phase at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Saturday to secure a Top 6 spot and condemn the Paolites to playing in the Bottom 6. 

The Southseasiders finish their league phase commitments in fifth place oN 18 points, one behind Sliema and two ahead of Birkirkara with Hibernians finishing seventh. 

Hibs took the lead on 25 minutes thanks to Lucas Villela who hit low past Mafoumbi followingan assist by Mailson Lima. 

Three minutes later, Lucas Villela doubled the score. 

To make matters worse for Marsaxlokk, goalkeeper Christoffer Mafoumbi was sent off for dangerous play on Mendonca. 

However, on 70 minutes, Marsaxlokk reduced the gal thanks to an own goal by Pedro Cacho who in an attempt to clear the ball into safety hit the ball past goalkeeper Sacco. 

Ten minutes later, Juvhel Tsoumou equalised as he headed the ball home off a corner by Arias. 

Hibs also ended the game in ten men after Dexter Xuereb received a second yellow card.
