Valletta failed to move back on top as they lost 0-2 to Zabbar St. Patrick in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Opening Round league phase at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.

For the Citizens, this was the first defeat after six wins and four draws and now they share second place with Hamrun Spartans on 22 points, one behind leaders Floriana.

Zabbar, on the other hand, returned to winning ways after losing two out of the previous three matches. They joined Gzira in eighth place on 10 points, two ahead of Mosta and three ahead of Naxxar and Tarxien but these all have a game in hand.

The Saints took the lead on 74 minutes when Vinicius de Paiva exchanged the ball with Abou Dumbuya before hitting the ball past goalkeeper Adilson Maringa.

Three minutes from time, Brian Gambarte selaed the issue with a second goal.
