The Women’s Jubilee Cup resumes this weekend with two crucial semi-finals that will determine the finalists for this year’s edition, scheduled for December 8.

The last four teams standing are the same as last season’s top four – league champions Swieqi United, Mġarr United, Hibernians, and Birkirkara.

The weekend’s action will kick off on Friday with the semi-final between Hibernians and Birkirkara, followed by Saturday’s clash between Swieqi United and Mġarr United.

Current Assikura Women’s League leaders Mġarr will be aiming to claim a third win over Swieqi this season and book their place in the coveted final.

The Greens have been in outstanding form, winning all eight league games so far while scoring 32 goals and conceding just twice – the best offensive and defensive record in the league.

Mġarr, defending domestic cup champions, have already defeated Swieqi twice in league play. However, Swieqi managed to overcome Mġarr in the Super Cup earlier this season, clinching the first major silverware of the 2025/2026 campaign.

French forward Josline N’Guessan leads the line for Mġarr with seven goals, currently the league’s third-highest scorer behind Swieqi’s prolific duo Salamatu Abdulai (11) and Sara Saliba (9).

Swieqi, joint-second in the league alongside Hibernians with 18 points, will once again rely on their attacking stars to guide them to the final.

Both teams enter this semi-final in strong form, having registered victories in their latest league outings – Swieqi beat Birkirkara 4-1 last weekend.

As for Birkirkara, they’ll be looking to bounce back from a sluggish league campaign, where they’ve picked up just nine points from eight matches.

Hibernians, meanwhile, have enjoyed a promising start under new coach Martina Borg. The Paolites have been further strengthened by the recent arrivals of Chisha Zulu (Zambia) and Sylivia Kabene (Uganda), whose attacking presence could make them serious contenders across all competitions.
