Hibernians and Mġarr United will contest this year’s special edition of the Women’s Jubilee Cup final on December 8.

Hibernians earned a commanding 3–0 victory over Birkirkara, though they had to remain patient, with the breakthrough arriving only after the hour mark.

The second semi-final offered far more tension, with Mġarr United and Swieqi United battling to a dramatic penalty shoot-out.

The Greens emerged victorious thanks to a brilliant display from goalkeeper Patricia Ebejer, who pulled off three decisive saves. Swieqi’s only successful penalty came from Tammy Falzon, while Salamatu Abdulai, Shona Zammit, and Sara Saliba were all denied.

Saliba’s miss added a touch of irony, as she had earlier equalised from the spot during regular time, cancelling out Yulya Carella’s opener for Mġarr.

In the shoot-out, Mġarr held their nerve, converting through Carella, Maia Debono, and Valeria Villegas.

Currently leading the league with eight straight victories, Mġarr continue to ride an impressive wave of momentum. Their progress to the final builds on last season’s success, when they captured their first-ever women’s silverware by lifting the Women’s Knock-Out title.
