Balzan and Pieta’ Hotspurs joined Melita on top the BOV Challenge League as they registered wins on Saturday.
Balzan defeated Zurrieq 1-0 at the Centenary Stadium thanks to a goal by Nicholas Pulis on 65 minutes while a goal by Arthur Stelmach just before the end of the first half handed Pieta’ Hotspurs a narrow win over Marsa in a match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
On the other hand, Sirens defeated Melita 2-1 in another game at the Victor Tedesco Stadium . Hafiz Mohammed Akadom put Sirens ahead on 25 minutes and Trezeguet Zammit doubled the score on 66 minutes. Jesus Yepez reduced the gap on 77 minutes.
In another match at the Centenary Stadium, Vittoriosa Stars beat Mtarfa 2-1. Arsene Rye Cilia Mumford put Vittoriosa ahead on 22 minutes and Godwin Emmanuel doubled the score on 74 minutes. Luke Camilleri pulled one back three minutes from time.
Melita, Balzan and Pieta’ lead the way with 13 points, followed by Fgura on 12, Sirens 10, Birzebbuga and Mgarr 9, Santa Lucia, Gudja, St. Andrews and Swieqi 7, Vittoriosa and Zurrieq 6, Marsa 3, Zebbug 1 and Mtarfa -6.
