Mqabba regained sole leadership in the BOV Amateur League I as they registered a fine 3-0 win over Pembroke Athleta at the Luxol Stadium on Sunday.
An own goal after five minutes paved the way for George Magri’s side. Andres Tenorio doubled the score on 32 minutes and Luka Mijic converted a penalty six minutes in the second half.
A goal by Juan Ruiz on 68 minutes handed Lija Athletic a narrow win over Xghajra Tornados in another match at the Luxol Stadium while at the Sirens Stadium, Qrendi defeated Zejtun Corinthians 2-1. Matthew Farrugia put Zejtun ahead on 14 minutes but Joseph Jojo Ogunnupe converted a penalty to level matters three minutes in the second half and Gianfranco Micallef made it 2-1 on 84 minutes.
Mqabba lead the way with 18 points, followed by Attard on 15, San Gwann 13, Qormi and Qrendi 12, Victoria and Mellieha 10, Lija and Pembroke 8, Kirkop and Zejtun 7, Senglea, Xghajra and Luqa 4.
