Kalkara United march on in the BOV Amateur League II with a seventh win in as many matches as they defeated Sta. Venera Lightnings 3-2 at the Sirens Stadium on Sunday.
Isaac Abela put Kalkara ahead on 5 minutes and although Andres Martinez equalised on 17 minutes, Miguel Perez Jimenez converted a penalty on 56 minutes and Jean Claude Annati made it 3-1 on 68 minutes. Andre Mallia reduced the gap two minutes from time.
Msida St. Joseph defeated Gharghur 3-0 at the Sirens Stadium thanks to a goal by Thomas Grima on 11 minutes and a brace by Taiwo David Akindele on 40 and 56 minutes.
At the Charles Abela Stadium, Siggiewi registered a third consecutive win, beating Mdina Knights 1-0 thanks to a goal by Gabriel Calleja on 20 minutes while the derby between Dingli Swallows and Rabat Ajax ended in a goalless draw.
A goal by Nathan Belhadj on the hour handed Ta’ Xbiex a narrow win over Marsaskala at the Sirens Stadium.
In another match, Joao Otavio handed Ghaxaq their first win as they defeated St. George’s 1-0 at the Centenary Stadium.
Kalkara lead the way with 21 points, followed by Msida, Mdina and Siggiewi on 12, Dingli and Ta’ Xbiex 11, St. George’s and Rabat 10, Marsaskala and Ghaxaq 5, Sta. Venera and Gharghur 3.
