Fine win for Marsaxlokk over Hamrun Spartans

Marsaxlokk registered a fine 3-1 win over Hamrun Spartans in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Opening Round Top 6 at the National Stadium on Sunday. 

The Southseasiders therefore registered their first win in the Top 6 and denied Hamrun the opportunity to close in on leaders Floriana who lie four points ahead of them.

Marsaxlokk took the lead on 19 minutes when Dodo served Juvhel Tsoumou inside the area and the latter controlled the ball, rounding a defender before slotting the ball past Celio. 

The Southseasiders doubled the score one minute from the end of the first half when off an assist by Ayom Majok from the right, Joseph Minala beat goalkeeper Celio with a fine rising shot from outside the area. 

Four minutes in added time the Spartans reduced the gap. Shaisen Attard delivered a corner from the right, Mafoumbi punched the ball out of the area but Ante Coric served N’Dri Koffi whose powerful shot gave from the left gave the Marsaxlokk goalkeeper no chance.  

Six minutes in the second half, Marsaxlokk  were unlucky to hit the upright with a Dodo effort but on 59 minutes,  they made it 3-1 when off a corner from the right by Leandro Aguirre, Weder Silva rose high to head home past Celio.
