Led for the first time by coach Winston Muscat, Naxxar Lions registered a dramatic 3-2 win over Mosta in the derby in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Opening Round Bottom 6 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Friday to maintain alive hopes of avoiding the bottom two spots.

With two games to go, the Lions are now second from bottom on 9 points, three behind the Blues and three ahead of Tarxien Rainbows.

Giancarlo Goncalves put Mosta ahead on 32 minutes but Gabriel Costa equalised on 38 minutes. 

Charles Samson Chubuike restored the lead for Mosta eleven minutes in the second half but one minute from time, Gabriel Costa levelled matters and Joao Moura notched the winner four minutes in added time.
