BOV Amateur League I: Attard re-join Mqabba on top

Attard re-joined Mqabba on top the BOV Amateur League I as they defeated Senglea Athletic 3-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium on Sunday.

Precious Uchechukwu Nwankwo put Attard ahead on 38 minutes and one minute later, Tejumola Ebenezer Ayorinde doubled the score. Jack Zammit reduced the gap on 52 minutes but Nicolai Sammut made it 3-1 on 73 minutes.

Mqabba, on the other hand, lost 0-2 to San Gwann at the Sirens Stadium. Denilson Borg put San Gwann ahead on 61 minutes and Gonzalo Nicolas Virano doubled the score on 75 minutes. 

Qormi defeated Pembroke Athleta 2-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium. Emmanuel David Garba put Qormi ahead on 40 minutes and Ayrton Azzopardi doubled the score on 63 minutes.

At the Sirens Stadium, Qrendi defeated Mellieha 3-0 thanks to goals by Joseph Jojo Ogunnupe on 14 minutes, Gianfranco Micallef on 84 minutes and Dylan Micallef on 94 minutes. 

Lija Athletic registered a third consecutive win as they beat Victoria Hotspurs 2-0 at the Sirens Stadium thanks to a brace by Ross McParland on 51 and 69 minutes.

A goal by Stefi Cale on 72 minutes handed Zejtun Corinthians a narrow win over Kirkop United at the Centenary Stadium while in another match at the same venue, Luqa St. Andrew’s defeated Xghajra Tornados 3-0 thanks to a brace by Collins Gyamfi on 60 and 76 minutes and Nathan Frendo on 66 minutes.

Attard and Mqabba lead the way with 18 points, followed by San Gwann on 16, Qormi and Qrendi 15, Lija 11, Victoria Hotspurs, Zejtun and Mellieha 10, Pembroke 8, Kirkop and Luqa 7, Senglea and Xghajra 4.
