Hamrun Spartans scored two late goals to beat Floriana 2-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Wednesday to move to just one point behind the leaders in the YoHealth Malta Premier Opening Round Top 6.
With one match to go for the end of the first phase, the Spartans lie one point behind Floriana and three ahead of Valletta. This weekend, Hamrun take on Sliema Wanderers while Floriana face Valletta.
Hamrun managed to take the lead on 76 minutes courtesy of substitute Jonny who was making his return after an absence of a year and eight months, who beat goalkeeper Guilherme Cioletti with a fine shot from outside the area.
Jovan Cadjenovic doubled the score nine minutes from time when he beat the Floriana goalkeeper following an assist by Jonny from the left.
