BOV Amateur League I: Attard held in 4-4 draw by Kirkop United

Kirkop United and Attard shared the spoils in an eight-goal thriller in a match from the BOV Amateur League I on Sunday.

Cedric Macalou converted a penalty on 8 minutes to put Kirkop ahead but Tejumola Ebenezer Ayorinde equalised on 13 minutes and Nicholas Schembri scored a penalty for Attard on 15 minutes. Dale Tabone levelled matters on 19 minutes and the same player made it 3-2 on 52 minutes. Giorgio Bellia extended the lead on 59 minutes but Nicholas Schembri reduced the gap on 71 minutes and went on to equalise on 78 minutes. 

Qormi moved to just one point behind the leaders thanks to a 3-1 win over Zejtun Corinthians at the Sirens Stadium. Innocent John Awori put Qormi ahead on 46 minutes and Dion Fava doubled the score five minutes later. Clyde Bouvet pulled one back on 89 minutes but David Emmanuel Garba made it 3-1 on 93 minutes. 

At the Charles Abela Stadium, Mqabba beat Mellieha 2-1. Quelin Micallef handed Mqabba the lead on 54 minutes and Saturday Nanapere doubled the score on 91 minutes. Alexander Akl scored a consolation goal for Mellieha two minutes later.

Victoria Hotspurs defeated Senglea Athletic 4-0 at the Sirens Stadium thanks to goals by Karl Micallef on 10 minutes, Rondinely on 15 minutes, Christian Mercieca on 51 minutes and Mathias Conti on 89 minutes. 

San Gwann and Lija Athletic earned a point each in a goalless draw at the Centenary Stadium while in another match at the same venue, Pembroke Athleta came from behind to defeat Luqa St. Andrew’s 4-1. Andreas Psaila put Luqa ahead on 17 minutes but Matt Brimmer equalised on 34 minutes. In the second half, Pembroke scored three thanks to Luca Emanuele Caruana on 56 minutes, Weverton Gomes on 89 minutes and Xylon Marmara on 95 minutes. 

Meanwhile at the Sirens Stadium, Xghajra Tornados defeated Qrendi 2-1. Richmond Baratuipre Hanson put Xghajra ahead on 37 minutes and an own goal before the end of the first half enabled them to double the score. Brandon Bray pulled one back on 94 minutes. 

Attard lead the way with 28 points, followed by Qormi on 27, Mqabba 25, Victoria 22, Lija 21, Qrendi and San Gwann 18, Xghajra and Pembroke 14, Zejtun 13, Mellieha 11, Kirkop and Luqa 10 and Senglea 4.
