Attard regained the top spot in the BOV Amateur League I as they defeated Zejtun Corinthians 6-5 at the Luxol Stadium on Saturday.
Goals by Tejumola Ebenezer Ayoridne on 4 minutes and Nicholas Schembri two minutes later put Attard 2-0 ahead but Zejtun hit back with goals by Aidan Camilleri on 20 minutes and Fabrizio Zammit seven minutes later to level matters,. Fabien Lufi made it 3-2 for the Corinthians on 38 minutes and three minutes in added time, Stefi Cale extended the lead.
One minute in the second half, Nicholas Schembri converted a penalty to reduce the gap for Attard and on 56 minutes, Schembri equalised. Schembri scored again on the hour to put Attard 5-4 ahead. Gordon Saliba scored a sixth goal for Attard on 77 minutes but Adrian Carabott reduced the gap three minutes from time.
Victoria Hotspurs and Mqabba shared the spoils in a goalless draw at the Luxol Stadium while Lija Athletic beat Qrendi 2-0 at the Sirens Stadium thanks to an own goal three minutes in the second half and a goal by Omar Khatib on 70 minutes.
On the other hand, Kirkop United registered a 4-0 win over Xghajra Tornados at the Sirens Stadium thanks to a Neil Buttigieg hat-trick on 9, 34 and 60 minutes and a Seydna Dicko penalty three minutes from time.
Attard lead the way with 31 points, followed by Qormi on 30, Mqabba 26, Lija 24, Victoria 23, San Gwann and Qrendi 18, Pembroke and Xghajra 14, Kirkop and Zejtun 13, Mellieha 11, Luqa 10 and Senglea 7.
