With just one match remaining to conclude the first phase of the men’s futsal league, the women’s competition featured three crucial fixtures, which resulted in three teams securing their place in the play-offs.
In the opening match, Luxol Sports Club Futsal Argus recorded an emphatic 6–1 derby victory over St. Andrew’s Futsal, with Ruth Steer stealing the spotlight after scoring an impressive hat-trick.
Meanwhile, Zero Sei Futsal maintained their position at the top of the standings with a commanding 9–1 win against Parr Mela Rockets Futsal. The Cottonera side St. George’s Futsal also stayed firmly in contention at the top following a solid 3–1 victory over Swieqi United Futsal LEC07.
According to the current standings, Zero Sei Futsal lead the table with 22 points, followed by St. George’s Futsal on 17 points and Luxol Sports Club Futsal Argus on 16 points.
Meanwhile, the battle for fourth place, the final spot leading to the play-offs, will be decided in the last two rounds of the first phase between Swieqi United Futsal LEC07 (7 points), Parr Mela Rockets Futsal (4 points) and St. Andrew’s Futsal (3 points).
In the men’s futsal league, the final match before the competition split into its decisive phase saw Luxol St. Andrew’s Futsal register a commanding 14–2 victory over Sliema Futsal Fort Fitness. Star of the match was Luke Gatt, who found the net on five occasions.
According to the league structure for the upcoming phase, the Premier Futsal League will feature GŻR Birzebbuġa St. Peter’s Futsal, Luxol St. Andrew’s Futsal, Marsaskala Futsal Legends, University of Malta Futsal and Żejtun Corinthians Futsal WA. Meanwhile, the Challenger Futsal League will consist of Futsal Selection U17, Futsal Selection U19, Santa Venera Lightnings Futsal and Sliema Futsal Fort Fitness.
