Attard moved six points clear in the BOV Amateur League I after defeating Mqabba 2-1 at the Sirens Stadium on Tuesday.
Staline Degabriele handed Attard the lead ten minutes in the second half and Precious Uchechukwu Nwankwo doubled the score on 75 minutes. Luka Mijic pulled one back on 88 minutes.
Second-placed Qormi, on the other hand, lost 0-2 to Victoria Hotspurs in another match at the Sirens Stadium. Christian Saint Ebisindor put the Hotspurs ahead on 71 minutes and Rondinely doubled the score one minute from time.
Lija Athletic moved third thanks to a 3-1 win over Zejtun Corinthians at the Luxol Stadium. Kevin Tulimieri put Zejtun ahead on 20 minutes but Wagner equalised on 35 minutes and just before the end of the first half, Lyvann Obissa made it 2-1. Erjon Beu sealed the issue with another goal two minutes in added time.
San Gwann were held in a 1-1 draw by Pembroke Athleta at the Sirens Stadium. Matteo Vella put San Gwann ahead on 19 minutes but Kyle Sciberras Balbi equalised ten minutes from time.
Senglea Athletic earned the three points in a 3-2 win over Qrendi at the Charles Abela Stadium. James Oghenekewaro put Senglea ahead on 2 minutes and although Brandon Bray equalised five minutes later, Johan Castano made it 2-1 on 20 minutes. Just before the end of the first half, Dion Ciantar restored equilibrium for Qrendi but two minutes in the second half, Nigel Scerri notched the winner for Senglea.
Kirkop United and Luqa St. Andrew’s shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Luxol Stadium, goals by Dale Tabone just before half time for Kirkop and Bledi Alla for Luqa twelve minutes in the second half.
Mellieha and Xghajra Tornados also earned a point each in a 1-1 draw at the Charles Abela Stadium, goals by Vitinho for Mellieha on 6 minutes and Andrea Hammett for Xghajra a minute later.
Attard lead the way with 37 points, followed by Qormi on 31, Lija 30, Victoria 29, Mqabba 27, San Gwann 22, Qrendi and Xghajra 18, Pembroke 15, Kirkop and Luqa 14, Zejtun and Senglea 13 and Mellieha 12.
